Pledge.ae Guide | How to Get Your UAE National Pledge Certificate?

The UAE is no longer just a temporary transit hub for expats looking to work for a few years and leave. For millions of people from over 200 countries, it is a permanent home, a safe haven, and the place they raise their families. To celebrate this unique connection between the country and its residents, the government recently launched the UAE National Pledge.

Hosted on the official Pledge.ae website, this “Pledge and Commitment” (عهد ووعد) initiative is a simple but powerful way for the community to show their loyalty and respect for the nation. Best of all? When you participate, you receive a personalized, officially branded digital certificate.

If you are wondering what this pledge is all about, whether you qualify, and how to get your hands on that certificate, here is exactly how it works.

What Exactly is the Pledge.ae Initiative?

Think of Pledge.ae as a digital guestbook for the nation, backed by Sandooq Al Watan—a non-profit organization focused on preserving Emirati values and fostering community strength.

The initiative is designed to give people a formal way to express gratitude to the UAE. It is a nod of appreciation for the unparalleled safety, the robust economy, and the peaceful coexistence the country offers.

Let’s clear up one major misconception right away: taking the UAE National Pledge is 100% voluntary. It is not tied to your Emirates ID, it won’t affect your visa renewal, and your employer isn’t going to demand it. It is entirely a personal choice.

What Are You Actually Signing?

Before you put your name on anything, you should know what you are agreeing to. This pledge isn’t just symbolic fluff; it outlines the core behaviors that make UAE society work so well.

When you sign the pledge, you are essentially promising to:

• Live in peace: Respect the hundreds of different cultures, religions, and backgrounds sharing the city with you.

• Preserve local values: Uphold the traditions and ethical standards of the UAE, ensuring the country keeps its unique cultural identity.

• Contribute positively: Be a productive member of society, whether that means growing a business, excelling in your career, or simply being a good neighbor.

For the massive expat community, signing this pledge is a milestone. It is a way of officially recognizing that the UAE has shifted from a temporary career move to a lifelong second home.

Why the National Pledge Matters?

Why go through the effort of setting up a national portal for a pledge? Because shared values keep a diverse country running smoothly.

For Emirati nationals, the pledge reinforces their heritage and reminds younger generations of the work required to keep the country thriving. For residents, it acts as a great equalizer. It sends a clear message: if you contribute to the peace and prosperity of the UAE, you belong here.

Psychologically, when people consciously agree to a set of positive values, they are more likely to act on them. It encourages what we call positive citizenship—people are more likely to volunteer, follow local laws, and look out for one another.

Who Can Take the Pledge?

The platform was built for everyone.

• Citizens and Residents: If you live in the UAE legally, you can sign it.

• Families: You don’t have to sign individually if you don’t want to. The portal lets you add your spouse and children so you can take the pledge as a family unit.

• Everyone Understands It: The platform isn’t just in Arabic and English. Recognizing the massive South Asian and East Asian communities that built the country, the portal also operates in Urdu, Bengali, Malayalam, Chinese, and Tagalog.

Also, don’t worry about printing it. The whole initiative was designed to be 100% paperless and eco-friendly.

Watch Out for Online Scams

Whenever a government-backed initiative goes viral, scammers try to take advantage. Keep these basic safety rules in mind:

• Stick to the official link: Only use pledge.ae. Do not click on random links forwarded in WhatsApp groups or unsolicited text messages.

• Keep your wallet closed: The Pledge.ae certificate is entirely free. If a website asks for your credit card details, a processing fee, or requests you to upload a scan of your passport, close the tab immediately. It is a scam.

Taking the UAE National Pledge is a fantastic, straightforward way to show your appreciation for a country that gives so much to its residents. It only takes a minute, but the statement it makes lasts a lifetime.
